fresh and exciting blog content

i bought more makeup today, from ulta, because they had a sale. i got: two loose eyeshadows, one in aloha (bright turquoise-blue) and the other in henna (dark brown?), and one cream eyeshadow in amethyst (dark purple). i also got another eyeliner pencil (glittery turquoise), eyeshadow primer (it comes in a tube with a brushy thing, like some lip stains?), some foam eyeshadow applicators, and a $1 e.l.f. blending brush (not from ulta). the reason i bought all these things is that i don't really know how to wear eyeshadow and i want to learn.

so tonight i tried everything out. i liked the loose eyeshadow things, since i am not the kind of person who minds being covered in glitter. surprisingly, henna was my favorite. amethyst was nice too although a little darker than i expected and very hard to blend. aloha was my least favorite, i think because it reminds me too much of an eyeshadow i used to wear in high school. but i still like it.
the eyeliner pencils were great, but i always like those. i did a kind of gradient thing with the purple and turquoise that looked really cool. and applying it under my eye is really easy, although i'm not sure what you're supposed to do to your actual lid when you do that. i might just use the henna glitter stuff and my normal dark brown eyeliner.
regarding the primers i got yesterday, i was sort of disappointed that the color fx sample i got wasn't any better, as far as i could tell, than the sephora one. i mean, i'm disappointed that i didn't get to try a cool fancy thing. i'm happy that i can get the same thing for $15 rather than $40 or whatever silly price the expensive one was. the l'oreal thing my new friend gave me yesterday was useless, in the sense that it is mediocre at a function i don't need it for. it's not actually a primer, it's only meant to make foundation go on more smoothly i think. i don't wear foundation and i was under the impression that smoothing out your foundation or tinted moisturizer or whatever was the function of primer anyway. what it does do is make my pores less obvious. that's fine, but my pores aren't that big anyway and it's not something i understand worrying about. i think i'm going to keep the stuff to use when i'm not wearing any other makeup and i want to look slightly better than normal, because i don't want to throw away a gift, but i'm a bit sad that it didn't work out.

i'm tempted to go back to ulta tomorrow and get two more cream eyeshadows, and i might, but maybe i will be too lazy. and the person i like says he will be very busy until the end of the month, so i don't have anything to dress up for except church next sunday. i guess i will be the only one to appreciate all my pretty new makeup.
