suddenly

1. i was elected president of the trans student group. i'm excited and terrified.

2. during the protests against the south carolina bathroom bill, i made a friend who works for a political organization. they bought a toilet from goodwill and a group of us put it on steps of the statue of strom thurmond on the state house grounds and took pictures. (toilets are really heavy.) they invited some of us to a workshop type thing on civil disobedience this weekend, so me and two friends are going to that.

3. another friend i worked with during the protests invited me to speak to a group of youth about being a black trans activist. this is the same lgbtq youth group i was part of in high school so of course i said yes. i'm nervous about this too.

4. i have a crush on someone else. it's good, because it's cool that i'm moving on and stuff, but it's bad, because yesterday i found out she's queer, but i found out because she mentioned her girlfriend, so that's sad for me.
yesterday i told my best friend this, and he said what he always says when i tell him i like someone who's already seeing someone, which is, "so? lots of people have a girlfriend." i don't think i'd ever try to break up someone else's relationship but it always makes me laugh when he says that.

so things are going pretty well. i've been really busy with everything going on but it means i haven't had much time to dwell on stuff that makes me sad. i'm exhausted but i feel satisfied.
